It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 24th National Hispanic Women’s Conference (HWC), to be held October 1-2, 2009, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona. As the largest gathering of Latinas in the nation, the conference aims to motivate, educate, and provide a prime opportunity to build lasting and beneficial relationships with other women and sponsoring organizations nationwide. Over the course of two days, HWC provides the opportunity for growth and development through participation in the conference institutes. Latina Power: Rising to Service and Change is the theme for the 2009 conference. The beautiful artwork provided by Laura Lopez Cano depicts the rising of the sun. The Executive Committee was inspired by this art and the messages of service and going green coming from our new administration. We extended this as a rise to service and change; service to community and a commitment to change the way we live our lives. The institutes that we are working hard to plan will include a topic encouraging service to the community and a “line of green” topics for alternative or green methods to incorporate into your business/professional/personal life.
The intense two-days of institutes will provide resources and information that is complemented by the celebration of our culture and success. Along with the HWC Board of Directors and the Executive Conference Committee, I look forward to hosting you this year at the 24th National Hispanic Women’s Conference.
